This is my favorite genre of music. It's electronic music that relies heavily on the synthesizer and has 80s vibes. I'm a big fan of the 80s. This music gives me nostalgia and it's good for either chilling, for getting energized, or for getting mad at your parents for not letting you go to the Sadie Hawkins dance, so you run out to the barn and do a very angry, acrobatic dance. These are my favorite synthwave/retrowave musicians.
Timecop is mostly instrumental. I prefer songs with vocals, but they got a lot of good stuff that would fit well with classic 80s movies. I had a dream once where I was a cop chasing a bad guy in different time periods, and I was like "That should be a movie!" And my friend Lance was like, "Yeah, that's TIMECOP!"

I'm not sure The Weeknd belongs on this list, but Blinding Lights and a few of his other songs have strong synthwave vibes. Remember that video of the Irish family doing the TikTok Blinding Lights dance? Who would have thought that time during Covid was going to be the most fun time anybody had for the next several years?

I haven't listened to many songs by Dryve yet, but this song with Fatherdude is amazing. Makes me want to get so drunk that I have to call someone to come pick me up. Probably my mom.

There are a ton of Yota songs that make me want to get drunk and dance with my karaoke speaker. It has flashing lights on it and when I move it around in a dark room, it feels like I'm at a rave party. I need to get some glow sticks!

Nina has a beautiful voice and her songs feel like they belong in some epic 80s movie like the Labyrinth or The Wizard. Remember that Fred Savage movie where his autistic brother is a master at Nintendo games?

I love this music video. It goes so well with the song for some reason. Who knew Arnold was on The Dating Game in the 70s? I bet my mom knew.
When FM-84 collaborates with Ollie Wride, magic happens. I'd say Ollie Wride has the most 80s sounding voice of any of the retrowave artists. He hits the high notes like someone is kicking him in the nuts over and over.
You might recognize this song from the Ryan Gosling movie Drive, which had many great retrowave songs in it. I'm not sure if that movie was really good or it just had really cool music that made you think it was good.
Trevor Something's music gets pretty intense and creepy at time. It's like futuristic dystopian music. Like music that would go perfectly in a scene where Robocop pours acid on a bad guy's face. Is that what happened in Robocop? Trevor also does a bunch of cool covers of great 80s songs, like Wicked Game.
The Midnight has made a lot of music and it is consistently good. They have so many great songs and videos on Youtube. They have some dedicated fans that make custom videos that are cool 80s movies cut down into a 3 or 4 minute vignette. I tried to play the videos at a party, because I thought it would be cool, but everyone was just like "WTF is this?" and I was like, "I KNOW WHAT'S COOL AND YOU DON'T!"
